Team

The team at Kings’ School Al Barsha includes Primary, Secondary and specialist teachers, the Leadership Team and support staff. It is a dynamic and happy group of highly skilled people, striving to do ‘The Best By Every Child’ every day as well as support our families.

    REBECCA GRAY Director of Education & Principal

    Rebecca graduated with a degree in Psychology in 2002, and went on to complete her PGCE at the University of North London. She began her teaching career in the London borough of Tower Hamlets, where she gained her first senior leadership post, and progressed to further senior leadership responsibilities in Peterborough. Following her career progression through leadership roles, Rebecca became Deputy Headteacher at a school in Huntingdon, during which time she also completed her NPQH. Rebecca has since been the Headteacher of a primary school in Northamptonshire and the founding Principal of a preparatory school. She has also worked as an Improvement Cluster Lead for the David Ross Education Trust, where she led on whole school improvement for seven of their primary schools.

    Sarah Reynolds Primary Headteacher

    Sarah graduated with a degree in Music from Durham University in 2004. She then studied for a PGCE at the University of Cambridge, gaining Qualified Teacher Status in August 2006. Sarah has fulfilled a number of leadership roles throughout her career, including Leader of Gifted and Talented provision while in Cambridgeshire, and Head of Key Stage 2 in Berkshire. 

    On arriving at Kings’ School Dubai in 2011, Sarah taught in Year 1 before moving on to lead Key Stage 1. She progressed to the post of Assistant Headteacher and then Deputy Headteacher. 

    A passionate leader, committed to delivering the best by every child, Sarah led Kings' School Dubai through 7 out of its 11 Outstanding KHDA ratings and is now very proud to be a part of Kings’ School Al Barsha’s ongoing success in the capacity of Primary Headteacher.

    MICHAEL BLOY Secondary Headteacher

    Michael joined Kings’ School Al Barsha as Secondary Headteacher in 2017 and has led the school on its journey from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’ and beyond. Michael is a child-centred leader whose approach is driven by the premise that “our students only get one chance.” 

    Michael’s journey has taken him to prestigious schools in the UK, South America and Dubai, providing him with a strong understanding of a variety of educational systems and practices. Michael has a strong track record as a change leader, with his schools benefiting from his desire to foster learning environments where the whole community feels safe, engaged and enthused to learn. 

    Michael holds a BA in History and Politics, MA in History and an MSc in Educational Leadership.

    Rebecca Tennant Deputy Headteacher

    Rebecca is a highly regarded member of the leadership team who joined Kings’ School Al Barsha in 2015. She began her teaching career in the North East of England after graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught children in Early Years as part of a team setting up a new Early Years unit in Durham. She then moved to Key Stage One, before taking on a leadership role in an inner-city school. 

    Rebecca enjoyed the challenge of leading the Foundation Stage at Kings' School Al Barsha for five years before being promoted to Deputy Headteacher for Primary. In this role, Rebecca continues to lead the Early Years whilst also working closely with the Arabic team and fulfilling the position of Designated Safeguarding Lead. Rebecca is incredibly proud of being part of the Kings' journey and is excited to continue developing the school's excellent practice.

    Stephanie Johnson Assistant Headteacher FS

    Stephanie graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2005 with a BA (Hons) in Education. She began her teaching career as a Primary Teacher in the Inverclyde region of Scotland. After three years she moved into a role in Early Years education, supporting children with Special Educational Needs. Stephanie led a team of teachers, providing specialist support to all Early Years education settings within the Midlothian region. During this time Stephanie realised her passion for Early Years education and this is where she has dedicated the past 12 years of her career.

    Stephanie has worked as part of our outstanding and innovative Foundation Stage team since September 2016 as both an FS1 teacher and Year Leader before being promoted to Assistant Headteacher.

    Amy Lenton Assistant Headteacher YR1&2

    Amy graduated with a PGCE from Durham University before starting her teaching career in Lincolnshire, where she flourished and secured her first year leader role. 

    Amy joined Kings’ School Al Barsha in 2016  and greatly enjoyed leading Year 5 and Year 2 respectively over two academic years.  In 2018, Amy was promoted to the role of Lead Practitioner and, through close intervention, monitoring, support and professional development, worked with teachers and leaders to raise the level of teaching and learning across the school.

    As Assistant Headteacher of Years 1 and 2,  Amy passionately continues to develop her leadership and teaching, and shows high levels of commitment to ensure high quality outcomes and opportunities for all. Amy also has additional responsibility for English  across the whole of Primary and supports the specialist teaching team, including Art, Music, Drama, Spanish and French.

    Russell Smart Assistant Headteacher YR3&4

    Russell graduated from Westminster College in Oxford with a degree in Primary Education, specialising in history. In the West of England, he held teaching positions across Key Stage 2 and his passion for computing was recognised when he became the youngest teacher within his Local Authority to be identified as a Leading Teacher for ICT. 

    After a variety of leadership roles in different settings, Russell came to Dubai to develop his career further. As Year 6 Leader at Kings’ School Dubai, Russell supported the introduction of the 1:1 iPad initiative, and then moved on to became part of the founding Primary Leadership Team at Kings’ School Al Barsha. Russell is now Assistant Headteacher, responsible for Years 3 and 4, along with additional responsibilities for assessment procedures and the more and exceptionally able programme. Russell is also Technology Lead for Kings’ Education.

    Stephanie Milner Assistant Headteacher YR5&6

    Stephanie began her teaching career in the North West of England, after graduating with a PGCE from Liverpool Hope University. After gaining experience teaching across Foundation Stage, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two, Stephanie went on to become Foundation Stage and Key Stage One Leader, where she developed her leadership skills. 

    Stephanie joined the King’s School Al Barsha family in 2015 and spent her first three years working in Key Stage One where she thoroughly enjoyed leading our young learners in Year 1 and Year 2 before being promoted to the role of Assistant Headteacher. Stephanie has been working with Key Stage Two since 2018, leading Year 5 and Year 6, and has worked closely with her Year Leaders to develop student’s use of technology to enhance learning opportunities in meaningful ways and to develop independent learning skills. Stephanie's role extends to leading on Mathematics across the whole of Primary and she also supports the Head of Islamic Studies and the Primary Islamic department.

    Abdulrahman Shaiba Head of Primary Arabic

    Abdulrahman Shaiba graduated from Cairo University, Dar Al Uloom College in 2011 with high distinction in Arabic language.

    Abdulrahman started his educational journey in Dubai in 2013 and joined Kings' School Al Barsha in 2017.  Abdulrahman was promoted to Arabic A coordinator in 2019 and, more recently, his passion, ambition, devotion and leadership skills led him to be promoted to Head of Arabic Primary.

    Abdulrahman aspires to maintain and develop the Arabic language in Primary on its journey to excellence.

    Michelle Heap Head of Primary Inclusion

    Michelle joined Kings' School Al Barsha in September 2018 as Primary SENCo and Leader of the Primary Inclusion Team.  Prior to this, she was working in an outstanding primary school in the UK with the dual responsibilities of Deputy Head and SENCO. 

    Michelle has over 14 years of experience teaching in outstanding schools in both the UK and Dubai, working across both Key Stage 1 and 2, teaching all year groups and leading on Literacy throughout. She gained her NASENCO qualification in 2011, having worked as a SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) from 2010.  

    As the lead of the Primary Inclusion Team, Michelle manages a team of 17 skilled professionals and is responsible for ensuring that every child receives the appropriate provision to support their learning needs. She is a passionate advocate of inclusive education and a firm believer in the school ethos of `best by every child'.

    Louise Rolf Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral)

    Louise graduated with a degree in History from the University of Sheffield in 2003 and headed back to her hometown of Liverpool to complete her teacher training, gaining Qualified Teacher Status in 2004. From there, Louise worked in a large successful school in North West London as both a teacher and, later, Head of Department.

    In 2008, Louise decided to make the move to international teaching where she worked at another KHDA Outstanding school as Head of Sixth Form and, later, Assistant Headteacher. 

    Louise joined Kings’ School Al Barsha in 2018 with an excellent reputation as a highly child-centred leader, with a track record of leading positive and productive change.

    Scott Johnson Deputy Headteacher (Curriculum)

    Scott is an inspirational teacher with degrees in Product Design Engineering and Computer and Electronic Systems Engineering from Scotland. He is a highly regarded leader here at Kings’. His excellent reputation flows from his innovative and cutting-edge approaches, ensuring his students are both passionate and successful in his subject area.

    Scott's dynamic approach is already seeing him lead key initiatives to improve student learning, and we are excited to have his dynamism and creativity at a senior level with responsibility over curriculum and assessment.

    Damian Edwards Assistant Headteacher YR7,8,9

    Damian graduated from Loughborough University in 2012, gaining Qualified Teacher Status in 2013. Damian has fulfilled several leadership roles throughout his career, including  Gifted and Talented coordinator both at KSAB and his previous school, Head of Alternative and Vocational Courses at a multicultural school in central London and most recently Head of Secondary PE.

    Damian is a two-time Middle East teacher of the week recipient, who uses innovative approaches to inspire students learning. He is an advocate of Flipped Learning, Gamification and the use of technology within lessons.

    Damian continues to develop his leadership and shows high levels of commitment to ensure high-quality outcomes and opportunities to provide 'the best by every child.'

    Premvati Patel Assistant Headteacher YR10&11

    Prem is a highly talented and versatile member of the Kings’ community who has been with us since 2016. Prior to her 13 years of leadership experience within teaching, Prem held a successful career within the media having worked as an Assistant Producer at the BBC for a number of years subsequent to her achieving an Honours degree in Broadcast Journalism. After completing her PGCE in Secondary Education, she embarked on her first teaching post with a leading school in Buckinghamshire, eventually moving onto a leadership position at a school in North West London helping it to become one of the top 2% achieving state schools in England. Her wealth of experience, in addition to working in production, includes multiple leadership responsibilities, including Head of English, Head of Drama as well as Senior Leader for Teaching and Learning.

    Natasha Ringshaw Assistant Headteacher YR12&13

    Natasha brings to Kings' a wide variety of leadership experience, having led highly successful English departments internationally, both here in Dubai and Mexico.

    Her IB Diploma experience will be highly valuable in our next steps as we seek to broaden our offerings at post-16 level, and her highly academic background and approach will ensure that our students in Key Stage 4 are well prepared for GCSEs and post-16 education.

    Tabu Saul Head of Careers

    Tabu graduated in Biology from University College London, followed by a PGCE from Homerton College, Cambridge. 

    After beginning her career at a North London school, Tabu branched out to gain some experience in industry, working in the procurement and global marketing teams for Mars. In 2003, shortly after returning to teaching, Tabu moved to Dubai. She has previously worked in two schools in Dubai, including an Outstanding KHDA rated school where she took her year group through from Year 9 to Year 13, before becoming Head of Sixth Form. At Kings', Tabu undertakes careers counselling, which has seen our A-Level graduates placed at prestigious universities globally.

    Mohammed Salameh Director of Arabic

    Mohammad joined Kings’ School Al Barsha in August 2017 as Director of Arabic. Prior to this, he worked in a number of outstanding schools in Dubai. Mohammad graduated from Jordan University with a PhD in Pre-Islamic poetry and has been teaching Arabic in the Middle East for 18 years. 

    Mohammad is passionate about using digital resources and critical thinking skills to motivate students and enhance their learning experience. 

    With his strong leadership skills and wide Arabic knowledge, Mohammad has successfully improved Arabic departments throughout his career and he continues to take Kings' School Al Barsha's Arabic team from strength to strength.

    Lucy Walker Head of Secondary Inclusion

    Lucy leads our Learning Inclusion Team in Secondary. She is responsible for ensuring that every child receives the appropriate provision to support their learning needs. Lucy has over 15 years of experience teaching in outstanding schools in both the UK and Dubai. 

    Lucy graduated from Huddersfield University with a BSc (Hons) Degree and has worked in a variety of roles from classroom teacher, to department and pastoral lead, consistently achieving outstanding results with children of all abilities, including children with a wide range of special educational needs. Lucy joined Kings' in September 2016 and now manages a team of skilled professionals who share her passion for enriching every child's learning experience. Lucy believes that giving children the support and strategies to become independent learners is the key to a child’s happiness and success.
